  1. Oh Debbie, I am soooo jealous! You know you'll have to post to your blog more often, because you will have to show us bargains that you find in your new GW store! How exciting. I think I'll pack a bag and head your way. Don't buy all of the good stuff before I get there! By the way, that photo of your Christmas fireplace that is on your sidebar should be in a magazine. It's beautiful. laurie

  8. Hi debbie!
It seems to be a great shop,i hope you'll show us your new finds!

Here is the answer to your question concerning "Amuse-gueule":
"Amuse-gueule" appartient au registre familier (que l'on utilise toujours);afin d' être "politically correct" on utilise "Amuse-bouche", et dans un registre plus soutenu ce sera "Mise en bouche".
    Personnally i use "amuse-bouche".
"Gueule" is a slang word for mouth , ie:"ta gueule!"(=shut up!)but is a correct word when it refers to the mouth of a dog.
French language could be simple but maybe the French Academy decided it wasn't posh enough when it sounds too simple, lol!
I hope my explanation wasn't too long...

Next time could you explain me the use of "would" when it's used to express the past?
    Have a great week!

  13. You have found some wonderful treasures at Goodwill...must be a better class of people in your neighborhood or maybe they just don't have a clue as to what they are getting rid of! Almost the best present a girl could ever get! Wish there was one a little closer to where I lived so I didn't have to travel 25 miles each way...but I usually do my grocery shopping at the same time, so I don't fell guilty.
Happy New Year to you, Debbie!

  16. All I can say, is that your Goodwill is better than my Goodwill. You have some wonderful treasures. It's all in the hunt! Lucky you -- a brand new Goodwill. I bet you can't wait to get in there! --Delores

  17. Debbie, what a perfect New Year's gift for you! I've always been envious of your terrific GW finds and love your expression of Goodwill Hunting. How wonderful that a new GW will be so near. I have to say there is a GW on my route to where I tutor. I need to time my travel so there is ample time to stop in and check things out.
Hope you and your sweet family had a wonderful Christmas. Thinking of you! ~ Hugs, Sarah

  18. "...four sides brick…built from the ground up! Not in an old grocery store." Hmmm...I guess there is no recession for the thrift stores and I suppose that explains why Goodwill's prices have gone up so much (at least in my area). Have fun shopping! :)

  19. You inspire me! There is a Goodwill here, I've never gone, will have to check it out, you got some gorgeous treasures! Love your mosaics!

  24. Hi Deb, I don't have a blog, but I follow Susan's a lot and have looked at yours with your cute table settings, too. I live just down the street from that new Goodwill store, so we must live close to each other. It drove me nuts for months wondering what that was going to be and then the sign went up. I don't normally shop at Goodwill, but after looking at all the great finds you have found I guess I will be shopping there, too. Maybe I will run into you there sometime.

  39. Debbie, We have them in our area, but the prices here are nothing like what a lot of bloggers in other parts of the country are used to. No extra % sales, nothing.... And the prices to start with are almost retail! What? This is used merchandise, GW! It is rare to find good deals here. I hope yours is one of the good ones... I do better at yard sales.

  40. Debbie,
You are so lucky; I have never found anything but old florist vases( not old as in antique, just old as in a dime a dozen). Perhaps I need to come to your Goodwill, since I seem to collect many of the same things you do, lol.
    Janet!

  41. Hi, Debbie! Thanks for coming by my blog and leaving me a note. I hope you will be very happy with your very own Goodwill Store. I don't have the same kind of good experiences you obviously have had. I'll bet I just don't go often enough. You certainly have picked up some beauties and I see why you are soo excited! And congrats on the new addition that is on the way! Enjoy and Happy New Year!

  45. Yes ma'am -- I went to Goodwill today -- brought home two pretty etched glasses - six blue glasses and a new sweater from my littlest grand. Love the treasures.

  46. Debbie-I tried to comment earlier and couldn't. You hit the jackpot! There is one relatively near my house with a drive thru, but it is just a drop off. Now I KNOW it is better to give than receive but just a small retail branch would be so nice :)

  47. Wow, aren't you the lucky one Miss Debbie! I have been amazed to meet many through Blogland this year and you remain one of the ones I will never forget. Your kind notes and words of encouragement for so many have touched many lives, including mine. Hope that 2010 will be stellar for you.
