Need Some Inspiration? It's Spring Open House!

020 Need some inspiration for Spring?  It’s time for the open house at my favorite flea/antique market…the Queen of Hearts in Alpharetta, Georgia!  My thrifting buddy Linda at Nina’s Nest and I are headed that way today. Want to come along? You’ll be greeted by this lovely garden room as you come in the door! Gotta love that fountain!

017 And look at this display composed of old architectural pieces! Do you see the lamps…made out of corbels! And I want that wonderful old rusty urn!

049 Of course, there will be bunnies…like this one made of faux hydrangeas…isn’t he cute?…

045 …and this pretty bunny pillow! Love the brown and green together!

046 And we can’t forget bird’s nests filled with eggs…like these wonderful salt and pepper shakers…

022 …or starring in this oh-so-springy wreath! Hmmm..my wheels are turning on a way to copy this one!

039And here are some more eggs!  Isn’t this black and white display so simple and yet so pretty? The ribbon and the little pops of greenery really add interest, don’t they?

029 And there are lots of springy colors…as in these wonderful rag balls! I may need to copy these, too!

048 I love this very frenchy garden chair with its springy yellow toile fabric!

036 But it’s not just springiness that inspires me! Let me show you around a little. For the demijohn addicts, here’s a display of several of them centered around a great old basket!

031 For the cherub lovers, here’s an unusual cherub hook and a sweet cherub face!

030 Now if you know me, you know I love mice wearing clothes..weird, but true! lol So I was tempted by this little book…until  I realized they were squirrels! Sooo…I left it for someone who loves squirrels wearing clothes! Is that you?

041 I have a few favorites I visit each time I come here…like this lug bowl from Ronce les Bains, France… but it is never on sale…sigh!

050 I also peek in on this bouillotte lamp…the twin to mine…only it’s $70 and mine was $18! Woo hoo!

038 And I also always pay this a visit…but what is it? A candle holder? An ink well? What do you think?

044 I have to run by this display of transferware…visual overload! Too much input! Too much temptation! lol

051But I think this is my favorite display in the whole store…do you see why?  It has all of the elements needed for ultimate frenchiness...lavender in a rusty old zinc bucket, mercury glass lamps, piles of old monogrammed linens and a plate of grapes and cheese. Add a pastoral scene complete with a flock of sheep and I feel like I am in Provence…ahhh!

024 And then finally I saw this…for only $9.99! Are you thinking what I am thinking? It would look great in…

IMG_3135 …my frenchy pink and green toile bedroom! Sooo...before I knew it, it hopped in my cart!

urn And followed me home and...voilĂ …here it is! It looks like it was just made for me, doesn’t it?

IMG_3153In fact, our co-hostess, the lovely Miss Isabella, thinks it is just purrfect!

  1. Can I go shopping with you next time? I saw so many things in your photos that just might have made their way into my cart. The rabbit that looked like he was made of Hydrangea blossoms really caught by eye. Glad you had a fun time!

  2. So I scrolling down thinking, nice, nice, lovin' the bunny pillow... and my eyes almost fell out when I got to the transferware pic! How fun! Happy Spring Weekend Debbie:@)

  3. Omg.....I loved the tour...I want to go there so bad, shopping with you would be a blast and expensive. I loved everything!

  4. I'm in love with the pretty little paper bunny and the bunny pillow. I'm also in love with that shop, oh my! What I wouldn't give to be able to browse and shop there.

Gizzie and Gabby send their purry kisses to Isabella and Gizzie's twin.

    hugs

  5. Hi Debbie....your pics are GREAT! It's so funny that we took almost all different pics - crazy! I love your commentary. Come on over and see my boring commentary :)I totally missed the sheep picture - love it! And the French iron chair with the toile - I missed that too. Hmmm, we'll have to go back! Linda

  6. Oh,Debbie. I wish I was able to go. Look what I missed! I am going to have to go one day soon. I see so many pretties. I bet that bucket of lavender was expensive or it was probably sold separately. Have a great weekend. I am painting, of course.

  7. I love your blog and always throwing in a shot of your co hostesses makes me smile and chuckle. Wish I could meet you and them! Anyway...on to the shopping spree...I want the pastoral pic of the sheep. I'm crazy for sheep! Also I like animals dressed in outfits but if you love mice then you need the books in the Brambley Hedge series. All the darling mice and stories drawn by Jill Barklem. Maybe you could deal with the shop owner on the lug bowl since it's been sitting there for so long unsold. hmmm. Thanks for sharing such a fun shop!

  8. I love it all. Thanks to you and your "co-host" for sharing it all.

  11. Debbie. LOVE the inspiration photos of Queen of Hearts. Great vignettes and that transferware display made me want to run, too for the same reasons. LOL
But my most inspiration comes from photos of your beautiful home. The little green urn with the pink and green hydrangea is perfect for your bedroom.
I hope you have a great weekend and I'm hopping over to Linda's blog to see her. Hugs.

  14. You asked what the ceramic item was. I believe it might be a ceiling electric light fixture. I have one that looks like that.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Deb what a fun day you and Linda had!!! Love it, your pretty little hydrangea is perfect for your room. The mystery piece looks like it might have been a light fixture for the ceiling at one point, just guessing here, I really have no idea, but it is pretty cool. Have a wonderful weekend sweet friend, always fun shopping along vicariously. Kathysue

  25. Debbie, you should come on down here to Meriwether County to shop at the antique mall on Hwy. 41, Warm Springs, and Pretty Primitives, Manchester. I am here now on a family visit. I've been to the mall only once and bought only 1 item there. I've been inside Pretty Primitives several times but never bought anything. There is also an antique store in downtown Warm Springs.
I've been to My Favorite Place several times and have told them you posted on your blog what a good place it is. They are very thankful for the free advertising!

  26. Hi Debbie, I didn't realize that you are in the Atlanta area too. Queen of Hearts is one of my favorites.....and we like the same transferware booth. What a collection of dishes. 27. Thank you for the shopping trip/tour. You did show lots of lovies, and I think I would have bought the book. I don't have a squirrel piece, but this book would be the perfect first piece of a collection!!! Your urn is perfect in your room!!!

    ReplyDelete
  28. That does it! I'll be in Roswell in April and I'm going to Queen of Hearts! What a great tour. Love the perfect little urn that you bought. It looks as if it were made for your room. And good to see the co-hostess again. She's always a treat.

  30. What a great place to shop! Stopping by from Deb's.....

  31. I believe the mystery piece is a light for an old house. We used to have them in our victorian house. Maybe it was repurposed as a candle holder.

Neat place to shop, thanks for sharing! Next time I'm in the area I will check it out.

  32. Debbie, What a fabulous place. I would love to back my SUV up to the front door and load it down with some of these pretties. I love the lavender in the pail and your new floral arrangement is wonderful!

Love the arrangement you got - it is SO perfect for your bedroom. Hope you have a wonderful week. Is your weather gorgeous right now? 39. Hey Debbie! Thanks for stopping by this morning! I did NOT know your daughter is expecting her third child, YOUR third grandson! WOW ~ You must be elated...and busy! I know you are a great helper to her, like I am to my daughter and son with our grandies. When is the baby due? Aren't you taking your oldest grandson to France this summer? I have wanted to get to the Alpharetta Queen of Hearts for some time now. I hope to soon, Johnny loves it as well. LOVED the visit with you today and I totally think you made the Best CHOICE picking up that silk arrangement for your room. When you have a free afternoon coming up, let me know and I'll ask for a couple hours off from work. I'd love to come see all these touches you've made to your place since I was there last. Your photos are always so breathtaking. You make the coffee and I'll bring the scones! Okay? Hugs friend! :)

  40. Beautiful inspiration Debbie! I loved seeing your room again, too!

That piece you asked about reminds me of an art deco type ceiling fixture. Other than that, I have no idea.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Debbie I would go nuts in that store!! So many wonderful things! Alas there aren't any that artful anywhere in my area. I had (and sold) that same exact bouillotte lamp! And your hydrangea plant does indeed look like it was made for your bedroom! Thanks for taking me shopping with you! I was drooling a lot *winks* Vanna

My mom has one of those bowls like you wanted, which she picked up many years ago while visiting France. Hers has a different design and her name is on it, but the colors and overall design are the same. She loves hers too.
