I am excited to be participating for the first time in Mosaic Monday with Mary at Little Red House! Over the weekend, I visited the wonderful produce stand of Osage Farms in Rabun Gap, Georgia, and wanted to share my pictures of the beautiful fruit and vegetables! Most of the produce is from Georgia or Florida and, later on, much of it will come from the field that you can see through the window in the middle shot! Talk about fresh!! My friend calls this the big produce stand in the sky because there is none to compare. We drive an hour and a half and pass several others to get here, but it's worth it!
Interestingly enough, you can see Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School from the farm stand! Some of you will recognize it as the original home of the Foxfire Magazine!
If you are not familiar with it, it was first written by a group of students from this school as an English class project and has since evolved into a nationwide publication including twelve books. It is a sort of how to guide about life in the Appalachian Mountains, including making apple butter, beekeeping, using medicinal plants, dressing a hog...even moonshining!
There is also the Foxfire Museum & Heritage Center in nearby Mountain City! You could make a whole day trip of this beautiful area!
Thanks for joining me! Please head on over to Mary's to see who else is playing along and to find out how to join us! See you next time! A la prochaine!
