Tablescape Thursday...or...Violets are Violet!!

Welcome to Tablescape Thursday with our Hostess with the Mostest, Susan at Between Naps on the Porch! Be sure to stop by her beautiful blog for another one of her gorgeous tablescapes and to get a list of this week's participants!

I am calling this week's tablescape Violets Are Violet because...well...they are! I guess things just rhyme better with blue! Anyway...today we are having dinner in the garden with a flowery Springtime theme!

My co-host today is Baby Kitty, who has now recovered from his recent bout of jet lag following his golfing excursion in Scotland. He's looking rather pensive...must be daydreaming about playing a round at Saint Andrew's! Back to work!

These wonderful violet print placemats and napkins are the inspiration for today's tablescape! I just thought they looked so springy! Can you see that the other side of the napkins matches the little stripe on the placemats? I love that feature! I am using my Gorham pewter flatware again. It seems much less formal and I like the chunky handles.

I am so excited to show you the salad plates! They are Spring Countryside from Mikasa and they are very special to me! My dear friend Marty at A Stroll through Life sent me four of them when I commented how much I loved hers! I got a wonderful "love box" from sweet Marty full of even more goodies that I will show you in other tablescapes!

The dinner plate is the Bordallo cabbage plate that everybody seems to have an entire set of except me! I had to hunt high and low for the few random pieces I have!! Doesn't it look so extra springy with the violets?? The butterfly napkin rings came from Goodwill.

I am also using my Wedgwood Queensware creamer and sugar. I bought these dishes as a treat to myself years ago and they have been real workhorses as china goes. They are so versatile! You can see the cups and saucers and salt and pepper shakers in the background.

My centerpiece comes entirely from Goodwill and Dollar Tree! You may remember the little angel and lantern from a previous post. The ivy wreath is also a Goodwill find that I dressed up a little to match my theme. I added some little flower pots holding votive candles.

Doesn't she have the sweetest little face? The little bouquet of violets came from Dollar Tree. Of course they are faux flowers...sounds so much better than fake...because of my staff's tendency to eat the real stuff!! lol

Look who has come to dinner!! It's Mr. Mouse! He's holding up his own mouse-sized cup and saucer so we can see that he brought his own. Should we let him stay? Why not! He matches the decor!! lol But watch out for Baby Kitty! I have also placed a tiny watering can holding more violets at each place...also Goodwill finds.

Now my placemat and napkin are going to do a few tricks for your entertainment! Notice that I have reversed the napkin so that we have a stripe with a floral!

Now how about a floral with a stripe!

Or a stripe with a stripe...a little more masculine!

Now back to the original floral with a floral...which do you like best? I think I like this one, but isn't it nice to have some choices?

And there you have it...my Violets Are Violet Spring tablescape! I hope you have enjoyed it! Please be sure to stroll on over to Susan's to continue your tour de tablescapes! Happy tablescaping!

  1. Debbie, Oh, j'aime bien!!!! ça me fait penser au printemps...les violettes, l'ange, la lumière. Les nouvelles assiettes sont parfaites! Je n'ai pas vu le "wreath". Tu l'as acheté sans moi? (Mon cerveau est nulle...j'ai oublié le mot pour "wreath".)
Tu es encore la Reine des Couverts! Linda :)

  5. Oh, I just loved your little tablescape. I especially loved the placemats and the napkins (preferred the floral) since it was unexpected. Your little mouse was quite charming; I think you should let him join in. I loved your little angel and the votives in the flower pots. Everything really looked great.

  6. Debbie... a beautiful tablescape as always. I relly like the reversible placemats and napkins... I remember Mr. Mouse... When Candy and I go to Wimberley next month... i'm going to look for that little mouse on the bicycle I found once before.

Violet are my favorites... your table is simply perfect in every way...

ps... I don't own any of those green plates.. they don't look very eater friendly, so I've never bought any of them.

Love your table as always. Blessings. Dixie
