Tablescape Thursday...or...Midnight in the Garden of...what???

Welcome to the new Tablescape Thursday! Be sure to visit our hostess with the mostest Susan at Between Naps on the Porch to see her her inspiring tablescapes as well as a list of all of this week's participants!

I am calling this week's tablescape Midnight in the Garden of...what? I can't decide! Maybe it will come to me! You can already see the little garden-y touches, I'm sure. This week I would also like to highlight my bargain finds! I am already discovering that if I am going to continue to tablescape...and it looks as though I am...I need to find a way to add to them without spending a lot of money!

Our co-host tonight will be Baby Kitty who has just flown in from New York where, you may recall, he was in contract negotiations with management. He is not only good-looking, but smart as well! It seems that he has received a hefty benefits package, including a two week vacation in...you guessed it!...Catalina!!! lol As you can see, he is anxious to get started, so...let's wander into the garden...

...dimming the lights for the full effect! This time, we have moved into my breakfast room for a less formal setting. I really have a hard time doing a tablescape without a tablecloth! I needed a simple white one for the round table and found it as Ross for $3.99. I will definitely be using it again!

Most of the centerpiece came from Goodwill! As soon as I saw the little terra cotta angel, I knew she had to be part of my next tablescape. She was only $1.71...don't ask me how they come up with these prices. I sprinkled smooth black stones on the table for an added garden-y effect...3 little bags at $1.00 each at Dollar Tree!

Let's take a closer look. Isn't that just the sweetest little face? I added fresh rosemary from the garden which I can use later for cooking. I love the smell of rosemary! I can't pass by it without touching it to release the scent!

I put votive candles in little terra cotta pots at each place for some garden-style ambiance. They were 69 cents each at Michaels.

The little lantern was only $2.22 at Goodwill! It even came with a tea light already in it. I put it on a down-turned pot from my garage...free!...to give it a little more presence on the table. Hey...are some of the stones burning???

Yes! They're candles shaped like stones!! Aren't they wonderful? They were $1.00 for three of them at Dollar Tree!! I love them. They are the inspiration for the whole tablescape! The little terra cotta tray they are in came from Goodwill...55 cents!

Here's a closer look at the lantern. I love the way the light is reflecting in the glass. You can get a little peek at the angel's sweet upturned face! I'm attempting to be artsy...is it working?? lol

I used my round black placemats with my Oneida Chardonnay dinner plates. The salad plates came from Marshalls. I thought the dark green color was perfect for my garden theme....$2.99 each...my most expensive purchase!

I am using my Gorham pewter flatware with my Battenburg lace napkins, tied with a simple black organza ribbon.

Here I'm attempting a little artsy photography again! The wine glasses were a gift, but I have since seen them at Target. I like the black stems!

Here is a final look at my tablescape Midnight in the Garden of...what? Ohhhh!! I know! I'll call it Midnight in the Garden of Goodwill and Dollar Tree!!!!

Once again, I would like to thank our....Baby Kitty!....what are you doing? Looking at what???

Oh no!!! It's Isabella! She's attempting to eat the centerpiece! Last week's roquefort cheese incident surely must have taught management a lesson...Baby Kitty is worth his weight in Kibble! The alternative is rather...er...hungry!

  2. Hi Debbie! Well, first of all, I am so glad to hear that Baby Kitty was able to fine tune the details of his benefits package on his business trip. :-)

And on to the tablescape...I love what you've done, and I'm giggling about Midnight in the Garden of Goodwill and Target! lol I'm loving the serene feel of the setting, and the way you went with mostly black and white, and then the pop of green to complete the garden theme. The cherub with her little basket is perfect for a few sprigs of your rosemary. You really know how to make Goodwill and Dollar store accessories look like a million dollars! Isn't that such fun? And with the challenge of a Tablescape every week, I think its a VERY good idea to incorporate the high with the low!! And no, I still haven't been brave and jumped in the tablescape game, but I'm having a fit to play with dishes now. :-)

I think this tablescape had MUCH thought put into it and I LOVE IT! Totally cool down to the little HOT stone candles! So, if you're retired, are you available for tea/coffee any day? 13. I just love it! The angel, the latern, the napkins, the green plate. Dollar Tree and Goodwill! Better watch out for me, for I get to drive again, well 15 min at a time. But I got a paper today, telling where the closest Goodwill is! I love Dollar Tree and only had one Goodwill, I loved in Tappahannock, Virginia. What great prices! Can't wait to get out again and shop! lol

  49. How about "Midnight In The Garden With An Angel".

You've got artsy down to a fine "art", but you really don't have to be artsy when everything is so beautiful. With an angel to keep watch over us we have nothing to worry about even if the garden becomes pitch black at mignight.

    Welcome home, Baby Kitty.
