I Met Susan...or...Max Gets Maxed Out

Sunday was an exciting day for me! I got to meet one of my blogger friends and I don't know when I have had so much fun! Do you see who I am with? Yes, that's right...Susan of Between Naps on the Porch at http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/! (She's the pretty one on the left and that's me looking goofy on the right!) And do you see where we are sitting? Yes...on her porch swing that you always see in her header! And do you see what's right behind us? Yes...the party in a pot! Isn't this great? Susan was kind enough to include me in her cookie exchange party and I was able to come since I only live about an hour away. I must tell you that her home is even more beautiful in person and that she is just as kind and charming as you have imagined.

The party was wonderful. I had an opportunity to meet Susan's friends and neighbors and they could not have been more welcoming. Susan and her co-hostesses, Debbie and Julie, had made some amazing hors d'oeuvres for us to munch on while we visited. By the way, that cranberry trifle was just as delicious as it looks! I tried to save some for those of you who asked, but it was waaaay too good! I am hoping that she will post her punch recipe because it was fabulous! Of course, her home was impeccably decorated. I have to say that it was fun to see in person the spaces that you have only seen on the internet. I was like a goofy tourist...oh, there's her pig with the chalk board, there's her Fa-la-la plate, her grandfather clock...etc. The photos do not do her home justice! It's gorgeous! I was just thinking it could not be more perfect when...

...Max came downstairs to check out what was going on. I had promised Lynne that I would try to have my picture made with him and he was very obliging...in a cat way. You can see in the picture that I am a little too excited and Max is looking like...Who is this person? Just put me down! However, if you know me, you know that I can't resist a furry feline face. After an ornament exchange game, we exchanged our cookies and each had a chance to take away piles of yummy goodies that we didn't have to make...good idea, huh? I must also tell you that Susan and her co-hostesses sponsored a toy drive for Must Ministries and we were able to fill a huge box with toys so that some special children will have a wonderful Christmas. So I drove away with a full tummy, a full cookie tin and a full heart. It was a very good day.

Now that I have met Susan, I am wishing that I could meet more of you. After all, I know more about some of you than I do about my neighbors. I am thinking that we need to meet somewhere in the middle of the country and have a convention like the Star Trek people do only without the weird outfits. What do you think?

  7. Glad, since I couldn't make the party, you did. I meant to ask you to give her and Max a hug for me, but with my CRS, I forgot. Maybe with her busy schedule, she'll make it down this way before the season is over. She is like my heartbeat, can't live without her.

I know she loves the excitement and amenities that Metro Atlanta offers, but I hope when she retires she can find that wonderful old home that needs a redo that she desires, maybe closer to where I live.

  9. Hi Glenda..Susan gave me your message. It was so much fun meeting her and getting to hold Max, even though I don't think he felt the same way! I understand about sisters. Both of my parents are gone and my sister is the other half of me. She is in Kennesaw, which is an hour away...just far enough to make it hard. I wish you were closer and your health was better because I would have loved to meet you, too! You always leave such kind and thoughtful comments. Maybe one day you, Susan and I can all get together. Have a great day!...Debbie

I am so serious about wanting to get a group of us cyber friends together here in St. Louis. 26. You're welcome Debbie!
You're home pictures all look so beautiful there.
It looks like a great site for sharing spaces. :)

I think it would be really neat if we could all meet one day!
Many bloggers in NC and the South in general it seems. Barb Garrett and I live right here in the same small town. It's a small world in the military I tell ya! I think we are planning on meeting sometime after the Holiday and she's recovered.

    You would love Chestnut.
He is soooo HUGE and fluffy!
Oops, I probably shouldn't brag on that part of him. He should be eating a bit less I suspect. LOL!

    Have a wonderful evening.~Melissa :)

  28. Bonjour Mon Ami!

How grand a time...and what memories you have made! Thanks for sharing this story with us...
I dare say so many in the blogging world would thoroughly adore the idea of meeting! (a la convention! )

And I am up for the costumes! (oh wait, you said no costumes...LOL oh well! ) I still think it is a vision!

  29. Well, I see I was, unfortunately, correct ~ my INITIAL COMMENTS to you got "eaten up", I guess, by "blogland bugs"!...OK, "convention-like" meeting? In the "middle" of the states?... YOU BET!!! But, dress "sanely"???~~~ never! If we're gonna do it let's "do it right", and all come as lamp shades (or some such FUN nonsense)!!! BTW, you are toooo cute in that pic with Susan! You even look RELATED I think!!! Soooo happy y'all had such fun! Warmly, Linda

    ReplyDelete
  30. Oh ...Thanks so much for coming back by, Linda. I am beginning to see that my initial idea of no costumes is not too popular! We will have to change that...but only if I can come as Yoda. He's the man!...Debbie

  31. Debbie - how fun! I bet your were so excited in the days leading up. Ok, so is Charleston about halfway between you amd me? If so, maybe we could meet up for a Spring weekend getaway at a B&B. How fun would that be? If not Charleston, maybe Savannah. I'll have my people call your people. You do have "people" don't you? My "people" meow. :-) Love ya, Barb

  38. Hi there, so glad you came by my dining room. I really enjoyed meeting Susan back in the Fall at one of her garden club meetings. So sorry I missed her cookie party. What a fun time you two must have had. We'll have to get together somehow. I have been at the Queen of Hearts in Marietta, not in Alpharetta, but I'm sure it's great. Someone told me that it was a much nicer store there. Your home is beautiful and love , love your plates!
    Happy Holidays!
